CAN WE WALK AS JESUS WALKED ON EARTH

The Bible says, “Sin is the transgression of the law” (I John 3:4). Any command by God that is not obeyed perfectly would be defined as sin, correct? In 1 Jn 5:17, apostle John states, “All unrighteousness is sin”. Does that mean we have to be perfectly righteous to not sin any longer? Paul states, “for whatsoever is not of faith is sin” in Rom. 14:23; wouldn’t that include everything we do even our consciences and omissions, James 4:17; “Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin.” James writes, "For we all stumble in many things. If anyone does not stumble in word, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle the whole body" (James 3:2).

Jesus walked this earth sinless. He is our example. Does that mean we can walk this earth sinless? Thought comes to mind that Jesus had an advantage over us; He was/is as God, "First" so the answer is "NO." Lets me off the hook, huh? Nah..it really doesn't because all that answer says is, "it's a easy way out of responsibility." "All things are possible with God" plus, we are made in His image. AND....IT WOULD TAKE TOTAL COMMITMENT.

We all have blamed others and avoided the responsibility of being responsible for our actions. I believe when the scripture states, “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that you may prove what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect” Romans 12.2, it is an example of the walk of Jesus. Although Jesus walked this earth, He “Spiritually lived in another world and was disconnected from this world in such a way that we all should strive to be so the disposition that ruled Jesus will rule us. Enlighten me.

What came to my mind when first reading this blog was, "Of course we can!". We just choose not to. It is so easy to give up when we know that it is not within "our own power" to overcome sin. John 8 talks about the adulteress who was brought to Jesus to be stoned. In the NIV version, it states this:

The teachers of the law and the Pharisees brought in a woman. She had been caught in adultery. They made her stand in front of the group. 4 They said to Jesus, "Teacher, this woman was caught having sex with a man who was not her husband. 5 In the Law, Moses commanded us to kill such women by throwing stones at them. Now what do you say?" 6 They were trying to trap Jesus with that question. They wanted to have a reason to bring charges against him. But Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with his finger. 7 They kept asking him questions. So he stood up and said to them, "Has any one of you not sinned? Then you be the first to throw a stone at her." 8 He bent down again and wrote on the ground. 9 Those who heard what he had said began to go away. They left one at a time, the older ones first. Soon only Jesus was left. The woman was still standing there. 10 Jesus stood up and asked her, "Woman, where are they? Hasn't anyone found you guilty?" 11 "No one, sir," she said. "Then I don't find you guilty either," Jesus said. "Go now and leave your life of sin."

Now in the Message Bible, it states this in Verses 9-11 says this: "Hearing that, they walked away, one after another, beginning with the oldest. The woman was left alone. Jesus stood up and spoke to her. "Woman, where are they? Does no one condemn you?"
11"No one, Master." "Neither do I," said Jesus. "Go on your way. From now on, don't sin."

Evidently Jesus knew that it was possible that once woman/man had an encounter with Him, and choose to go the way that He walked, that it would have to be the path of a Sinless life. He told Mary Magdelene to go and sin no more..the question is, how do we live a life of no sin? What is it that is keeping us from living a sinless life? Is it the will that just doesn't want to do right or something else? Teach me.....

The "First" thing that comes to mind when reading your guestion is that, "First comes natural then spiritual." Which is true but our character (spiritual or not) speaks so highly of who we are. Some of us truly have the desire to do the right thing although falling short of it but there are others who do what they do with no regard to right or wrong (self-serving) and the sin falls where it falls.

I also believe that we were formed to have a sinless life (Adam & Eve) but as they became sinful...generational curse?

Do you think it comes down to how much we love God to break the curse... the depths of His blessings upon us? And Jesus' sacrifice. How strongly do we take it? I believe all things spiritual goes back to the cross. Do we truly understand the magnitude of "LOVE" it took to die for us? Shouldn't that selfless act been enough to break the curse? Or do we simply want...fleshly satisfaction over the spiritual side of what is right?

Nall...you know what we want? Our cake and eat it too! It's just like eating too much. We know that we like to eat (mainly me and my folks). Some good stuff and bad stuff. And the more we eat the wrong things, the more weight we gain, which eventually becomes unhealthy.....and causes all kinds of sickness and diseases. The end result...sickness for a long time...or death. Regardless...just as not taking care of our physical beings ends in death....so does sin. Why don't we see that or believe that? Just like Adam and Eve, they didn't believe that they would die when they first ate the fruit. Eventually they saw the results of their sin...by watching other things die first...like the leaves changing their color in fall..then came winter...like Cain when he killed Abel...Adam and Eve's first funeral....do we not realize that the same thing will be us if we don't leave this flesh behind? Because we haven't seen the real result....do we really want to wait until it's too late to change? We're just playing with God and our eternal lives!!!! Sin = death. Eternal death. Eternal life = death. But it's death of the flesh!!! Which in turns = Life Everlasting!!!!! The point is, which one are we willing to choose? Choose what we want to see and eat cause it looks good and tastes good? Or what we can't see and have to have faith to attain? Eternal is a long time.....
